I got the message “Inaccessible Boot device” when starting Windows, problem was that the drive was hooked via USB-Hub.Image Used: Windows11_InsiderPreview_Client_圆4_en-us_22000.iso.I used an SSD in en external casing, speed is amazingly like an “internal” installation Update 09/2021: I just tried installing Windows 11 with the same method and it worked flawless. I am the lucky owner of a 2019 16" MacBook Pro and finally got Windows 10 to work on an external drive (HDD in my case, but the instructions should just as well work for SSD) Make sure you get the right drivers for your device. It might take a moment to clear free space on your Mac when it starts up. Here's how to use it: 1.Open Boot Camp Assistant from the Utilities or Other folder in your Applications. Run the bootcamp.exe once Windows is up and youll have all the drivers youll ever need. Every Mac comes with Boot Camp Assistant pre-installed, which guides you through partitioning your Mac and installing Windows. There are a couple guides out there describing this process, yet I could not find one that was applicable to the current macOS versions and hardware. Download the Boot Camp drivers to a pen-drive, format the device using the Windows installer before installing.
